Elisabetta Canalis has finally opened up about the previous romance she shared with 53-year-old Hollywood A-list actor, George Clooney, which officially ended in June 2011, Us Weekly first reported.
Amid her busy preparations for her wedding with current beau, orthopedic surgeon Brian Perri, the Italian actress managed to finally talk about her past romance with "Gravity" actor George Clooney and gush about her engagement.
"I am happy for him," Canalis said of Clooney's relationship with fiancée Amal Alamuddin. However, she admitted that she's not really interested of Clooney's current romance as she is more focused on finding her own happiness.
"I am thinking only of my happiness," she told Italy's Chi magazine recently. "It is the most important day of my life, I don't have time to think of anyone else."
Additionally, Canalis clarified the rumors claiming that her romance with Clooney was nothing passionate to begin with and that it was only for professional reasons.
"That is the wrong impression that many have made and I do not have any problems speaking about him," the 35-year-old showgirl explained. "There is no mystery, no contract, no secrets to hide. So many people believe that a relationship with a such a famous person, always in the spotlight, was not possible. Instead we had a real connection and it ended as all relationships can end."
Interestingly, Canalis also gushed about her engagement and her upcoming wedding to Perri.
"I met a 46-year-old man who has never married and does not have children, a rarity," she said.
On Tuesday, Canalis was spotted wearing her rather large diamond engagement ring in Los Angeles, according to E! News.
"It is the most beautiful ring I have ever seen," she said of her ring. "Brian designed it, he put his heart and soul into it."
Canalis and Perri are reportedly tying the knot in Sardinia, Italy on Sept. 14 - the same month Clooney and Alamuddin are getting married in the actor's Lake Como estate.
"I chose the date some time ago and September is the most beautiful time - for those who do not know Sardinia - to appreciate it," Canalis explained of her wedding date. "Otherwise I would have had to wait a year."
Canalis isn't the only ex-girlfriend of Clooney who has decided to settle down this year. Stacy Kiebler, his last girlfriend prior to Alamuddin, has also tied the knot in March with Jared Porbe, according to New York Daily News.
