Lawyers of Nick Cannon, 33, and Mariah Carey, 44, have issued a confidentiality agreement as part of the embattled couple's divorce, TMZ reported.
Based on the agreement, Cannon is allowed to talk about the current situation of his relationship with Carey but he is prohibited from divulging the details of their divorce. If he broke the agreement, the "America's Got Talent" host will face severe financial penalties.
On the other hand, Carey was given the right to discuss their divorce under the agreement.
Apparently, Cannon has been complying with the confidentiality agreement.
During his recent interview with The Insider With Yahoo, Cannon admitted he and Carey have been living separately since May. However, he did not say anything about their divorce.
"There is trouble in paradise. We have been living in separate houses for a few months," Cannon said adding that his main focus is his children, his three-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, whom he and Carey call their "dem babies."
A publicist for Carey refused to comment on the former "American Idol" judge's personal life but confirmed she is focusing on her children and her upcoming tour.
After six years of marriage with Cannon, Carey reportedly disagrees with her husband's decision to keep himself busy with his career.
"She is heartbroken. This has been going on for months. It has a lot to do with Nick's career choices. He does not have to work, but he's been throwing himself into gigs and projects," a source told E! Online.
"She has tried and tried to get him to stay home more, but he always uses work as an excuse. When she points out that, financially, he does not need to be working as much as he does, it pisses him off and pushes him farther away," the source explained.
"[Cannon] hates when people assume he's living off her money," the source added.
With the child custody and property settlement already fixed, Cannon and Carey's divorce is reportedly "a done deal," sources told TMZ.
