Chris Pratt Makes Ice Bucket Challenge Twist, Nominates Gregory Smith, Nick Offerman And His ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Co-Star Dave Bautista

Accepting the Ice Bucket Challenge, "Guardians of the Galaxy" star Chris Pratt put a hilarious twist to the viral activity with the help of his wife Anna Faris and his mother Kathy Pratt.

Created to help spread awareness for Lou Gehrig's disease or ALS, the Ice Bucket Challenge participants pour a bucket of ice water on their heads to raise money for ALS research or make a $100 donation to the ALS Association or both.

While most of those who accepted the challenge poured ice cold water over themselves, Pratt took to Facebook to show a video of his "slightly different" version of the challenge.

Nominated twice by Vincent D'Onofrio and Disney CEO Bob Iger, Pratt produced and quickly dispatched a tiny bottle of Blue Ice Vodka for the first challenge and gulped down a bottle of Smirnoff Ice for the second.

However, the 35-year-old actor did not expect that his wife and mother from a balcony above would pour two buckets over ice water on him.

Pratt then nominated co-actors Gregory Smith, Nick Offerman and Dave Bautista.

As of Aug. 15, Friday, the challenge has reportedly raised $9.5 million for ALS Association, Mashable has learned.

The popularity of the challenge in the United States is linked to former Boston College baseball player Pete Frates, who himself has ALS.

Since he can no longer walk, move his arms and speak, Frates did the challenge with the help of his wife.

Amid the popularity of the challenge in the US, Frates' 27-year-old friend Corey Griffin died on Aug. 15, Saturday after diving off a Massachusetts wharf, Daily Mail reported.

Just a day prior to his death, Griffin had just raised $100,000 for ALS research in honor of Frates, Boston Globe reported.

Among the celebrities who also took part in the challenge are Conan O'Brien, Ansel Elgort, Robert Downey Jr. and Justin Bieber as well as tech leaders Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg.
