Our friend Patti Kapla, beauty aficionado and V.P. at FragranceNet.com filled us in on how to choose the best fragrance for summer. Now shes's back to help us pick perfumes that even help repel pesky mosquitoes! Check out her summer tips!

Patti, do perfumes ever expire?

Perfumes only expire if you do not take proper care of them. Keep all fragrance in a cool, dry area, and away from windows as sunlight can unbalance the various ingredients. An opened bottle should be kept in its box to ensure a longer shelf life. They usually last 3 to 5 years from their production date.

Are there actually fragrances that help repel pesky mosquitoes?

Floral and fruity fragrances will naturally attract mosquitoes. If you want them to stay away I would recommend essential oils such as Citronella, Peppermint, Clove, Eucalyptus, Lemongrass and Marigold. Aura Cacia makes a variety of essential oils that could help, like Citronelle Java Essential Oil ($4).
