We were so inspired to learn Melissa McCarthy started her own line after designers "refused to make a dress" for her for the Academy Awards. However, "Project Runway" designer Christian Siriano claims he attempted to collaborate with the funny gal, but she was "difficult to work with."
"She wanted some specific things that I thought would not look good on her body. And she was not comfortable with them in the end," he explained.
McCarthy revealed to Redbook in June that because of her size, it is difficult for her to find styles that work for her.
"Two Oscars ago, I couldn't find anybody to do a dress for me. I asked five or six designers-very high-level ones who make lots of dresses for people-and they all said no," the actress told the mag.
She made similar comments previously to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Trying to find stuff that's still fashion-forward in my size is damn near impossible," she said. "It's either for like a 98-year-old woman or a 14-year-old hooker, and there is nothing in the middle." "[I] always thought I would design women's clothing."
"Then [I] ended up in New York thinking I was going to go to FIT [the Fashion Institute of Technology], and I started doing standup. So how A went to B, I don't know!"
McCarthy's line ensures all women can feel stylish and beautiful at any size. We know she is so comfortable in her skin after her Rolling Stone interview.
"I could eat healthier, I could drink less," she explained. "I should be learning another language and working out more, but I'm just always saying, "Ah, I could get hit by a bus tomorrow."
