It looks like "Glee" season 6 will not be seeing the return of fan favorite star Chris Colfer. The former cast member took to his Twitter account on Thursday July 3rd to confirm the news.
According to E! News, the actor who is one of the original characters who plays Lea Michele's Rachel Berry's best friend Kurt has been "let go" of the Fox hit series and will not be in the show when it returns for its sixth and final season.
Chris Colfer tweeted, "Due to personal issues, I have been let go from the cast of GLEE. Explanations will come shortly..."
This is a blow to fans who are still mourning the loss of cast member Cory Monteith as well as those who are devastated over the fact that the series is ending.
Colfer has played the fan favorite character Kurt for the past first five seasons and was one-half of "Glee's" most popular couple along with Darren Criss who played Blaine. The same sex couple quickly garnered the name Klaine thanks to fans.
Prior to announcing his exit from the series the actor seemed to be content with the fact that that the show was set to end in its sixth season.
Chris Colfer said, "I think it will be a good time to conclude the series," adding, "It's a very, very difficult show to do, as everyone knows, and I think when people say that we're the hardest working cast and crew in television, I don't think it's an overstatement.
"I think it's very much the reality."
However, according to Fox news the actor's Twitter account has been hacked. A source revealed, "It's not true. His twitter was hacked," adding, "He was mid-air on a plane. He is indeed returning next season."
Fox released a statement about the hacking incident, "We've been alerted that Chris Colfer's Twitter account has been hacked.
"Rumors of his dismissal from Glee could not be further from the truth. We love Chris and look forward to working with him again this season."
"Glee" season 6 is set to air midseason on Fox.
