It looks like Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes may be breaking up instead of planning a wedding as rumors are surfacing that "The Place Beyond the Pines" actor refuses to get engaged to his girlfriend.

The 39-year old actress has reportedly been pressuring her 32-year old boyfriend to settle down but "The Notebook" star is too focused on his career to make a commitment to his former co-star.

According to Showbiz Spy, an insider said, "Ryan and Eva are on the rocks over his refusal to make a solid commitment to her."

The source added, "He's been dragging his feet on proposing. He's obsessed with his career and claims he can't focus on anything else at the moment."

"Until now she hasn't pressured him, but she's just a few months shy of 40 and told Ryan that if he doesn't want to start a family with her, she wants to find a man who's ready and willing."

Mendes has even called in Gosling's mother for back up to support her decision to give the actor and ultimatum.

"Eva knows Ryan's mom is anxious to become a grandmother and is hoping she'll talk sense into him," the source revealed.

Apparently Gosling's mother loves the actress and Mendes feels like it isn't too much to ask for. Up until now, Mendes asked the actor to commit to her but her age is starting to weigh heavy on her brain and she is ready for a family.
